First Untethered iPhone 5 Jailbreak Comes In The Form Of ‘evasi0n’

It’s been over 4 months since the release of the iPhone 5 and today marks the first day that users can jailbreak their phones via an untethered software by a group of iOS jailbreak authors who go by the name of, “Evad3rs.”

The software is available for Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows and will jailbreak any iOS 6.x device. For those unfamiliar with jailbreaking, its purpose is to allow the user to make unauthorized tweaks and changes to the phone and the ability to download apps not found on the App Store. As an untethered jailbreak, users only have to jailbreak once, while a tethered jailbreak means that the user has to do this process every time they restart their phone.

Note: Via The Verge, users and staff have confirmed that the jailbreak is force closing Apple's Weather App.

Did You Know - Siri Works On All Current iOS 5 Devices

Apple's decision to make Siri an exclusive feature that belongs to the recently released iPhone 4S has been question quite a lot ever since Siri was announced. At first we all thought it had to be the iPhone 4S' better, faster and improved hardware, but as it turns out, people have successfully ported Siri to fully and flawlessly (with some mic hiccups on the iPod's side) work on all current iOS 5 devices including the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 and the iPod Touch 4G. Jailbreaking is still required though. Here's a handy guide on how to install Siri on the iPhone 4 and iPod Touch if you're feeling adventurous, or possibly betrayed. Just goes to show you that Apple did everything to entice users to jump ship and get the iPhone 4S with its voice assistant genie.

Limera1n & GreenPois0n Jailbreaks Now Available on Mac & Linux

Alike most of you, I thought that the way that Geohot only allowed for Windows users to use his Limera1n jailbreak was a bit weird, but now you can enrage Steve on any platform you choose by using Limera1n by Geohot or Greenpois0n by the Chronic Dev Team. But remember, if you do try and break away from Apple's grasp, beware that there is always risks with Jailbreaking, so always back up.

Hackers Come Together: Cydia Merges with Rock

They have been rivals for a year and a half, but Cydia and Rock unite, as SaurikIT (the makers of Cydia) have acquired Rock and will be moving everything from Rock over to the Cydia store. And, not only will the stores combine, but all the software engineers will be combine as well. Which will make a much better Cydia as all of the knowledge and expertise come together. This is a great thing for all jailbreakers, I'm sure, but users running 4.1 will have to wait a bit longer to see the new Cydia Store as there is still no jailbreak yet.

iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Ready

It is not even out yet, but the good people over at the iPhone Dev Team have managed to Jailbreak iOS 4.1. ?Comex, the creator of the Spirit and jailbreakme.com jailbreaks is saying that he has already located 2 exploits in iOS 4.1. The first one is similar to the jailbreakme.com jailbreak as it uses a loophole in iOS itself, which makes it simple for the user to impliment, whereas the second one is in the bootrom of the iPhone at the hardware level. Which makes the second jailbreak will be much harder to impliment than the first, but as the second one is deep down within the iPhone, it will be much harder for Apple to lock it down.

Look for it to be available the same day that iOS 4.1 is, which is rumoured to be September 8th.
