Apple's Official Leather & Silicone iPhone 6 Cases Aren't Anything New
You didn't think Apple would hold back in releasing a few mundane accessories for its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones right? Although this time Apple did not make a Lightning dock for the iPhone 6 models, it has brought back the slim and ever so minimal naturally dyed genuine leather case that was initially designed for the iPhone 5s. Apple's iPhone 6 Leather Case, as it is officially named, is made using the same exact smooth microfiber-lined aniline leather as the iPhone 5s variant, only that it has been obviously made to follow the iPhone 6's new curvy design in order to provide that snug fit we really liked in previous iterations. And while it'll offer minimal protection at a premium cost, the iPhone 6 Leather Case does offer somewhat of a luxurious feel. It's worth noting that unlike the iPhone 5s Leather Case, this one has a bottom-less opening since the iPhone 6 is such a slim device, exposing parts of the aluminum bezel and curved Gorilla Glass edge.
Apple's official leather case for the iPhone 6 will cost $45, while the iPhone 6 Plus Leather Case will cost $47. Both cases will most likely be available to be pre-ordered alongside the iPhone 6 on September 12, and will come in six different leather hues.
New to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is this ultra-slim silicone type case, which sports the same clean looking styling of the leather case variant including that bottom-less opening around the bottom ports and speaker, except that little did you know it's actually the same silicone case that Apple has designed for the iPhone 5c sans the infamous holes on the back. And like the iPhone 5c case, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus silicone cases have a microfiber interior lining offering a tight form-fitted fit with an extremely soft-to-the-touch exterior silicone finish.
Apple's official iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Silicone Cases are expected to be available to be pre-ordered on September 12, for $35 and $39 – and in six different colors. Apple's $35 and $39 asking price for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is definitely over-pricing what is merely a thin silicone case with little to no styling or durable drop protection. That said, if these cases are anything like Apple's previous iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c cases then you should expect them to be of high quality in comparison to other similarly made offerings.
