SwitchEasy AirMask For iPhone 6 & 6 Plus Offers Inclusive Paper-Thin Protection

SwitchEasy is back in the game of making unique cases for the iPhone. This time the company unveiled a new type of case that it thinks will revolutionize the case industry. Only it won't. The AirMask isn't the first of its kind, but it is the first to market when it comes to encasing Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Much like the Slim case created years ago for the iPhone 5 by iSkin, SwitchEasy's AirMask is an ultra-thin shell case that fully encompasses the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus, providing a full 360-degree worth of protection against scratches and marring. With a form factor that is only 0.35mm thick and weighing just 10 grams, the AirMask is made up from two thin hard pieces of polycarbonate polymer layers, which instead of snapping together to form a seamless one-piece casing around the iPhone – use an adhesive to install over an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus covering both the front and back with a ultra-thin layer of protection that is also said to provide users with an anti-slip grip thanks to the micro-textured, metallic-like finish.

Similar in construction to the 0.35 case for the iPhone 6, we wanted to create a product that formed a protective shell around the iPhone including the screen that was easy to apply, but wouldn’t cause bubbles as is a common problem when applying protective films to a screen,” said Julian Yang, Sales and Marketing Director of SwitchEasy. “We’ve gotten great response from our customers about our micro-thin cases and accessories, so this was a logical step to create a unique form factor that still offers next generation protection.

The AirMask features a built-in crystal clear screen protector said to offer a quick and easy, errorless installation unlike traditional screen protectors that require perfect alignment and trapped air bubble removal. As Julian Yang notes, the AirMask is as thin and slim as SwitchEasy's 0.35 case, but offers complete front to back scratch protection made possible by utilizing next-generation precision molding and manufacturing techniques.

We like this concept of an ultra-slim case that truly offers unhindered 360-degree worth of minimalistic protection, however, the AirMask doesn't do a very good job in complimenting the native design and color styling of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus by fully covering up the white or black front side of the device with a metallic finished plastic. Granted the AirMask is available in silver, Space Gray and in gold, but it fails to follow the sleek and distinct two-tone design language set by the antenna breakers. The AirMask will start to ship later this month, but you can pre-order it right now $30 in three different colors.
