Mophie Juice Pack Air iPhone 4 Battery Case Review
The Mophie Juice Pack Air is one of the more notable battery cases out there since the iPhone 3G/S. Mophie's Juice Pack Air battery cases have made a big impression on the iPhone user community over the years and now the Juice Pack Air comes to the iPhone 4 looking better than ever. I've had the chance to test out a few battery cases for the iPhone 4 in the past and some were great while other needed more work. So today, the Mophie Juice Pack Air has officially won me over as the best battery case yet. Catch the full review after the break!
Some battery cases for the iPhone 4 are very bulky, pricy and don't offer much battery power in real world situations. The juice Pack Air for the iPhone 4 is a big winner so far and actually outperforms bigger battery cases such as the Case-Mate Fuel Max which has a bigger battery capacity in it. Mophie are no strangers to the battery case market and it shows with the Juice Pack Air. The Juice Pack Air is a slider style battery case that has two parts to itself that fully incase the iPhone 4 and protected it all around from scratches and bumps. The two parts slide together like butter without any use of force. You can see the matte soft-touch coating that coats the insides of the Juice Pack Air as well as the back and that gives you a great comfortable feeling as well as grip.
The Juice Pack Air is really sharp looking and as you can see it resembles the iPhone 4's look by the silver band and black color scheme. This silver band is made to look like metal but it's actually made out of plastic and does not have the same matte soft-touch coating as the rest of the case but that is definitely not a bad thing. The Juice Pack Air feels very well made in the hand and does not feel cheap. Bulk isn't really that obvious using the Juice Pack Air since it's designed so well with it's smooth contour edges that you really don't notice much bulk added to your iPhone 4. It has a slim profile for a battery case that's for sure.
The Juice Pack Air packs a 1500mAh rechargeable battery that I put through it's passes to see how well it can perform with the iPhone 4. After four full charges and discharges I was able to get a constant charge of 80% each time on a fully drained iPhone 4. So that's almost a full charge that you can get out of the juice Pack Air with only a 1500mAh battery, that is impressive to say the least. I also had push notifications set to 15 minutes so the iPhone 4 was constantly working while being charged by the Juice Pack Air. The slimness and battery capacity of the Juice Pack Air made me not want to take it off my iPhone 4 because of how well it performs, looks and feels.
Mophie did an outstanding job at being different from all the rest by positioning the charging port for the Juice Pack Air to the side and that simply allows for an easier and more comfortable way of charging and also syncing your iPhone 4 and Juice Pack Air. The supplied USB sync and charge cable allows you to charge both your iPhone 4 and Juice Pack Air simultaneously without even having to remove your iPhone 4. The Juice Pack Air is fitted with a power switch so you can control when you want to start charging your iPhone 4 while four white LED indicator lights can let you know how much juice you've got left by a push of a button.
Ports and buttons are all easily accessible using the Mophie Juice Pack Air and there are no issues using the camera with the LED flash. The Juice Pack Air provides a minimal lip over the screen so that your iPhone 4's glass screen won't touch a flat surface should you place it front side down. Also, the speaker and mic cutouts are now pointed directly at you and I found out that sound quality actually gets louder and more understandable this way.
If you're looking for some protection and more battery life for your iPhone 4, I would highly recommend the Mophie Juice Pack Air. You can pick up the Juice Pack Air in three colors. Price $79.95.
