Droid 2 Images Leaked!

 

The Droid X has just launched and the sequel to the Motorola Droid, the Droid 2 is just around the corner. We reported about the Droid 2 being seen in the leaked Verizon catalog (Read here) and now there are some more pictures of the Droid 2.

The picture above looks very official and is probably photos that would go in the official. See a bigger version of the photo here. Where as the photo below is probably the dummy phone that you find in stores. This pic also has a the presumed UI of the Droid 2 and the dummy phones can be bought here for $29.99.

 

As of yet, Verizon have not officially announced the Droid 2 or a release date but we are hearing a release date of August 23rd.

Droid Kicks Apple Where it Hurts!

You can't deny it, the Droid has got one awesome marketing team. The previous viral Droid campaign, Droid Does, contributed to the success of the Droid and it looks like they’re looking to continue the awesome ads with this one. Seen as a full page ad in the New York Times, they’ve still got some magic up their sleeves. See the ad below:

Now the bit that hurts Apple is in the bottom paragraph where it says "The Droid is the ultimate smartphone with its gigantic screen and HD connectivity. But most importantly it comes with a double antenna design.  The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls.”  Now that has got to hurt!

Droid X Pre-Orders at Best Buy

 

So your iPhone 4 order was cancelled and you want to switch to Android? Well the latest Android phone to hit the market is now available for pre-order, the Droid X.  Best Buy is now taking pre-orders for the best Android smartphone to date. The main features of the Droid X are a 4.3" screen at 854x480, Android 2.1 with NinjaBlur (a less intrusive version of MotoBlur) with Froyo coming later this summer and 720p video recording. 

By ordering the Droid X from Best Buy you don't have to fuss around with the mail-in rebate, you just pay $199.99 in store with 2-year contract on Verizon.

Droid X Gets Officially Announced

 

Today in New York, Motorola announced the latest version of their Droid range of phones; The Droid X. This brand new android phone will run a less intrusive version of MotoBlur, called NinjaBlur and here is the full list of features below:

  • Released on July 15th for $200
  • 1Ghz TI OMAP 4630 Processor
  • Runs Android 2.1 with Ninjablur but going to be upgraded to 2.2 Froyo later this summer
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 8GB Internal Memory, comes with a 16GB card which is expandable up to 32Gb
  • 4.3" Screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 854x480 Display Resolution
  • 8Mp Auto focus camera with 720p video recording
  • Duel LED Flash
  • 1930mAh Battery back available in a few months, but adds only 1mm extra thickness!
  • Full Flash 10 support
  • Data Plan totally unlimited says Verizon CEO
  • Wifi Hotspot that can connect up to 5 other devices ($20/mo extra)
  • Tethering support, that adds 2Gb cap of data
  • Enterprise support with exchange support, push email, corporate directory, security protocols and remote wipe

Verizon Releases Droid X Teaser

A bit creepy and it doesn't show the phone and it doesn't have any information, but I want to see what the phone has in store. However there is some features like 720p video recording and a 4.3" screen (read more here) that are already known but I want to see if there are anymore new features in the Droid X

Droid X Teaser Website Goes Live

  

Not much info on this at the moment except that the Droid X gets added to the Verizon's official Droid website. The site is boasting a 4.3" screen, HDMI output and a 720p display for the Droid X! You can also enter you email address for updates so we might see a release sooner than we might think.
