LG Announces World's First Scanner Mouse

LG has just put two simple ideas together, a scanner and a mouse. You can easily scan something by holding down the scan button and dragging over the media and save in a variety of formats -- PNG, JPEG, TIFF, PDF. If this isn't enough there is also Optical Character Recognition that converts text from the images to an editable Word document. You can pick up this bad boy in the UK for £89.98 (around $148) but not available in the US yet. Check out the device in action in the video up above.

Microsoft Debuts Explorer Touch Mouse

Microsoft has just announced the Explorer Touch Mouse, the newest addition to Microsoft's growing wireless touch-enabled mice line. The Explorer Touch Mouse features a touch strip with both vertical and horizontal navigation as well as touch scrolling. Other features like 5 customizable buttons, BlueTrack blue laser sensor for tracking on virtually any surface and an impressive 18-month battery life are all packed into the sleekest, ambidextrous body a mouse has ever seen. The good news is that the Explorer Touch Mouse is both PC and Mac compatible - even OS X Lion. The bad news is that it isn't Bluetooth enabled, rather RF dongle enabled. It will be available in September for $49.95 in black and blue.

HP Announces First WiFi Mobile Mouse

While HP's latest WiFi connected wireless mouse isn't going to win any design awards anytime soon, it's the world's first WiFi wireless mouse with an impressive 9-month battery life. No other wireless mouse currently on the market comes even close to this. HP claims it's an easy one-time pairing process on Windows 7 while Mac users will have to settle for their Magic Mouse instead. HP claims that in order to pair over WiFi, a PC running Windows 7 is required. If you're a Mac user, there is nothing here to keep you interested anyway. The 1600cpi laser sensor and 5 programmable buttons are still very basic. The HP WiFi Mobile Mouse will be available in June for $49.99. I think I'll stick with my Razer mice for now.
