JBL Charge 3 Portable Wireless Speaker Review

The king of affordably priced portable Bluetooth speakers has returned. And it's bigger, better and more powerful than before. JBL has for a long time been the best at making portable speakers that were unbeatable. It's now about to retake that title with its latest generation of its most successful model yet. The new Charge 3 is a fully waterproof portable wireless speaker with larger drivers that produce sound that is even better than what was considered to be the portable speaker to beat. Other improvements include a much longer battery life and an upgraded design that is tougher and more durable than its predecessors – the Charge 2+ and Charge 2. We've had some time to thoroughly test out JBL's newest portable offering, which of course also means putting it up against formidable rivals. JBL Flip 3 Portable Wireless Speaker Review

The Xtreme is a great and powerful speaker, but not everyone can afford a $300 Bluetooth speaker. Fortunately, JBL's new Flip 3 is one wireless speaker that's affordable and very portable too. The Flip 3 improves upon its predecessor using two 40mm drivers flanked by dual external passive bass radiators for much better sounding bass, has double the battery life and features a rubberized water-resistant fabric design for greater outdoor durability. And like JBL's Xtreme and Pulse 2 speakers, the Flip 3 can also be used in a multi-speaker setup by wirelessly connecting to multiple JBL Connect-enabled speakers for an amplified audio experience much like UE's Double Up mode. In short, the Flip 3 is JBL's greatest Flip speaker the company has ever made. Could this be the the best new super portable speaker to get for under $100? JBL Charge Portable Wireless Speaker Review

JBL's Charge sells itself as a portable wireless stereo speaker with impressive gadget-charging capabilities all rolled into one attractive and compact device. If there ever was a portable speaker that combined all-day long battery life, an ultra-fast backup battery charger with big sound in a small package - it would definitely have to be the Charge, and the Charge alone. As you might know, JBL gave us the $100 Flip late last year which at the time blew us away with its elite audio performance we called jaw droppingly powerful.

But like any good product, the Flip had its inconveniences and treble-heavy sound signature we pleaded JBL to fix and improve upon. Now that we've got our hands all over the Charge, we're going to find out if JBL did things a little differently this time around. JBL Flip Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review

After our run in with JBL's Micro 2 and Micro Wireless portable speakers which put quite a few speakers of their caliber to shame, we've also secretly had our hands all over the Flip wireless Bluetooth-enabled portable loudspeaker, which is to say the reputable audio brand's $99 Jambox killer in a clean-cut suit and tie. Where the Jambox got its reputation using cutting edge styling backed by a brand that's all about deliciously colorful and updated design, JBL's Flip is more of a technical know-it-all speaker with hardcore performance to back it up.
