Lunatik Returns With Epik Apple Watch Aluminum Case & Strap System
/Customizing your Apple Watch is now easier than ever thanks to the plethora of third party accessories hitting the market. And if you’re feeling like going overboard in protecting your Apple Watch, then you’re going to like this. This is the Epik by Lunatik, notably the same company that brought you the iconic watch band system for the 6th generation iPod nano (AKA the original iWatch), which is applying that very same formula of greatness with its Epik case system for the Apple Watch. Unlike a standard case or replacement band offered by countless third party brands, Lunatik’s Epik takes things to the next level by completely transforming your Apple Watch into one tough wearable that can withstand your wild, and stylish lifestyle.
The Epik is made up of a solid machined aluminum protective casing that installs over any 42mm Apple Watch once removed from its Apple-made band, and features its own strap system complete with stainless steel hardware – which is available in either a black G-Shock-like rubbery style silicone sport band (similar to that of the original LunaTik band for the iPod nano) – or in a more high-end looking all-aluminum link bracelet that is color matched to the aluminum Apple Watch case (currently available in black or silver). That means that you will have to say goodbye to your original Apple-made band as the Epik is not compatible with Apple’s own easily swappable band mechanism. However, if you still have your old LunaTik silicone band it will in fact work with the Epik. Suffice it to say the Lunatik Epik is arguably the most awesome-looking and most protective Apple Watch accessory there is.
The Epik case fully encases the Apple Watch in sleek ,finely finished anodized aluminum featuring a raised display bezel, and a shock-absorbing interior suspension system complete with a built-in, heavily knurled Active-Control Crown designed to enhance grip and control of the Digital Crown, making it easier to use if you happen to be snowboarding whilst wearing gloves. And of course like any good Apple Watch case the Epik offers full use of all watch controls and features, including charging, heart-rate monitor, Digital Crown and side button usage. Lunatik’s Epik is currently being sold over at Kickstarter, no surprise there as this was the platform the company originally used to help fund its first Apple accessory, which was a huge success. Early bird prices start at $100 for the silicone band Epik model and $125 for the aluminum link Epik model.
If past offerings are any indication, we're looking forward to seeing more accessories from Lunatik made for the Apple Watch out of non-metal materials at less expensive price points.
A white Stormtrooper-inspired Epik for the 42mm Apple Watch will most likely be available shortly after the official launch.
