Verizon Denies You Unlimited Data

Verizon Wireless has just recently announced its plans to slowly phase out unlimited data users currently grandfathered into it as they upgrade to 4G LTE. This move will affect a major portion of the company’s customer-base as the current iPhone users who upgrade to the alleged LTE iPhone sometime this year will have to choose amongst tiered plans.

"When asked how Verizon will drive customers to this new data share plan, Shammo said that LTE will be the anchor for the new plan and that as customers upgrade from 3G to LTE, they will have to be on a data share plan, allowing the company to sunset its unlimited 3G data plan. “A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited,” Shammo said. “When they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share. That is beneficial to us.”

Verizon plans to announce their family data plans and pricing sometime this summer. This could be potentially beneficial for customers with multiple smartphones with LTE capabilities.

Sprint Posts iPhone Plans, Offers Unlimited Data

Sprint has recently posted its data, text and call plans for the iPhone on its website offering customers to pre-order the 8GB iPhone 4 starting today for $99.99 in black or white with a 2-year contract and an October 14 shipping date, while opening up the pre-ordering for the iPhone 4S on October 7 together with Apple with shipping scheduled to start on October 14. Customers will also be able to get their hands on the iPhone 4S in Sprint brick and mortar stores on October 14.

Sprint's iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S plans start at $69.99 and include unlimited data, which both AT&T and Verizon no longer offer. Looks like Sprint is the way to go for new iPhone buyers this time around at much lower monthly costs including unlimited data for that data hungry iPhone.
