Apple Updates iMac With Thunderbolt, Faster Everything

There it is, Apple has refreshed the iMac line of desktop computer with better and faster hardware all in the same aluminum enclosure. No new screen sized were added to the new 2011 lineup of iMacs and the 21.5" and 27" are here to stay.  The new 21.5" (1920x1080) iMac starts at $1,199 and packs a 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of memory and an AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics card with 512MB of memory.

Apple's new 27" iMac starts at $1,699 and packs a 2560x1440 screen resolution with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, 4GB of memory and an AMD Radeon HD 6770M graphics card with 512MB of memory. All the new 2011 iMac now come standard with the new Thunderbolt port, one port on the 21.5" model and two on the 27" model. In addition to all this hardware bump, the new iMacs now have an HD FaceTime camera. 

White iPhone 4 Thickness Issues Caused By Quality Control?

There are new reports coming in about the while thickness issue with the white iPhone 4 compared to the black iPhone 4. Consumer Reports have confirmed both the white and black iPhone 4 to have the same exact thickness when precisely measured using a caliper tool. On the other hand, Engadget reported that their white iPhone 4 was 0.2mm thicker than the black version in the image below.

This whole scandal is turning out to be what looks like a problem with Apple's quality control making the white iPhone 4. Apple's marketing chief Phil Schiller has confirmed that both the white and black iPhone 4 are exactly alike in terms of thickness. In the meantime, case companies like Otterbox have quickly put up fitment notes regarding incompatibility with their current iPhone 4 cases and the just released white iPhone 4.

Apple Releases Third Developer Build of OS X 10.7 Lion

Apple has just released the 3rd build of OS X Lion via Software Update that is 1.22GB. Apple gave no details about what changes or any fixes that come in the latest build since it is not the full-fledged 'Preview 3'. From tests the updated features include snappier Finder, better UI for deleting apps from Launchpad, and many more design tweaks then the previous DP(Developer Preview) builds. Also included in the update is an update to Xcode 4.1 Developer Preview 4. Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is set to release this summer(not that far off) and will likely show many of its features at WWDC 2011 in San Francisco which starts on June 6th.

New Sandy Bridge Equipped iMacs Due Next Week

Rumors are coming in fast and hard about an imminent refresh of Apple's iMac line due as early as next week. AppleInsider reports that the new iMacs will be updated with Intel's new Sandy Bridge family of processors as well as the new high-speed Thunderbolt port which will replace the current miniDisplay port. Rumors also suggest new display sizes and better AMD graphics cards.

White iPhone 4 Slightly Thicker Than Black iPhone 4

Oh no, here we go again. After Apple released the Verizon iPhone 4 with a slight silent switch repositioning, case manufacturers had to accommodate the new design change by updating and releasing Verizon iPhone 4 compatible cases. Now that Apple has released the white iPhone 4, there are reports of users who say that their white iPhone 4 is slightly thicker than the black iPhone 4 by roughly 1mm. This translates to current cases that are very tight fitting like hard plastic sliding cases may in fact cause trouble and will not fit the new white iPhone 4.

What does this mean for you? If you just purchased the white iPhone 4 you may want to be careful with your case selection at this time. Avoid purchasing slider and tight fitting plastic cases until we get more info on the matter. Play it safe and get Apple's Bumper case if you need some protection.

White iPhone 4 Officially Out

Well, well, well. We've got some good news for those who have been waiting endlessly for Apple's white iPhone 4. Apple has officially announced that the white iPhone 4 will be available to purchase starting tomorrow at Apple retail stores and online. Looks like Apple has redesigned the proximity sensor above the earpiece to be much more sleeker and got rid of the grille it had before when Apple released the iPhone 4. I think I'll stick to me black one for now.

Apple Reports Record Financial Results: Best Non-Holiday Quarter Ever

 

Apple announced its financial results for the second fiscal quarter of 2011. Apple posted a $24.67 Billion revenue and a net quarterly profit of $5.99 billion. Comparatively, last second fiscal quarter had a net quarterly profit of $3.07 billion.

 During the quarter, Apple shipped 3.76 million Macs, 18.65 million iPhones, 9.02 million iPods, and 4.69 million iPads.  

Also mentioned by Apple is the improving condition of Steve Jobs, noting that his appearances at the office have become more frequent recently.
