iPhone 4 Sales Hit 1.7 Million!

There was no doubt that the iPhone 4 was going to be a huge success, but nobody expected it to be this successful. As Apple just announced that the iPhone 4 sales has just hit 1.7 Million and this is the most successful product launch in Apple's history; even better than the iPad!

Steve Jobs said: "This is the most successful product launch in Apple's history. Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply."

The success of the iPhone 4 was probably down to the 600,000 pre-orders, as well as AT&T offering a early upgrade to US customers contract's ending in 2010. The pre-orders saw a record sales with about 6,00,000 bookings in 1 day so that made Apple run out supply and had stopped taking pre-orders.

Now the 1.7 Million is only from 5 countries (US, UK, Japan, Germany, France) and just think how well it will sell when it soon rolls out in eighteen more countries.

White iPhone Spotted in the Wild

While reporting the iPhone 4 launch in the UK, Sky News managed to grab a couple of shots of a white iPhone 4, despite it not being commercially available until late July due to "manufacturing difficulties." The video report was posted to 9to5mac (see the white iPhone at 1:23 and 1:31) and the iPhone's were probably just display products, but this just doesn't make any sense at all. However, Apple could of just done this to show it of to the press.

Apple Sold 1.5 Million iPhones on Launch Date

As you could probably know, Apple sold a ton of iPhone 4's yesterday. People were queueing around the block for the chance to get one but just how many did they sell? Of course, nobody knows the exact number but Oppenheimer’s Yair Reiner has tried to guess and come up with 1.5 million!

So we know that in the US there were 600,000 iPhone pre-orders. A big number of course. And that is just without walk-ins and the ones sold at places like Best Buy and Walmart. So Reiner reckons that there were 100,000 non-resevered iPhone 4's bought in Apple stores and around 50,000 in other retailers. So that comes to 750,000 iPhones in the US alone! But if you add the international orders in as well (which is probably the same as just the US purchases) you get around 1.5 million.

Now if you remember back to the iPad launch, it sold 1 million units in less than a month. And you thought that was a huge success. So just think of the impact of the iPhone in just one day!

However, you should take this with a grain of salt as apple product launches are often over exaggerated and you should wait until Apple posts the official numbers.

Farmville for iPhone

The most popular social game on the internet, Farmville has released their iPhone app after demoing it at the WWDC keynote. The farmville will sync with your facebook farm so now you can plough, plant and harvest your crops on the iPhone on the move. The iPhone version of FarmVille has new touch controls that allow you to farm faster and easier.  The game also features new iDevice exclusive items which include a Snow Leopard for you to put on your farm.

But if you have got some money burning in your pocket you can use in-app purchases to buy huge amounts of coins and farm cash from anywhere between $4.99 – $49.99.

However, as this was intended for the iPhone 4 release, it looks like it doesn't have many iOS4 features, including multi-tasking and retina support.
