The HiDefDrum by Atomic Floyd are definitely one of the best looking earphones on the market, not only are they great looking but they also sound great as well but we will get to that later. The HiDefDrum can also be used as a headset for your iPhone, BlackBerry and even Skype, with a mic and a single control button that are located in the Y cable splitter.
The design is very well thought out all the way from the small 24K gold plated 3.5mm audio plug to the packaging. The packaging is amazing and compact, included is a really nice leather semi hard carry pouch that is double stitched, very nice attention to detail. The cable is very durable and has a nylon mesh coating not a normal rubber cable, it's definitely the best nylon cable iv'e seen but it tangles up really easily when stored. Build quality - Is absolutely outstanding to say the least. The HiDefDrum are entirely constructed from steel but stay very lightweight thanks to the thin AcousticSteel™ construction.
Sound quality - Atomic Floyd have turned the treble and bass to the max on the HiDefDrum and you notice that immediately, the sound is super crisp and clear as can be for this price range and you can easily distinguish between every instrument. You do not get any muddy or distorted sound, the bass sounds great however it is not bass heavy at all and I would have liked some more of it that's for sure. The best way to describe the sound is treble heavy and that's not a bad thing at all, the sound will suit most music genres and HipHop less. I myself really like my bass but after hearing the sound that the HiDefDrum produces i care less now because of the superb quality I hear my music at.
Comfort - The HiDefDrum are extremely comfortable inside my ears and they stay on too. I managed to get little sound isolation using the supplied ear tips.
MoGo Talk is the first to feature a case for the iPhone 3GS with an integrated Bluetooth headset. The MoGo Talks headset is ultra slim with a thinness of just 5mm. The headset is very light and surprisingly comfortable in the ear, the MoGo Talk comes with very slim ear tips from small to large and they are designed to stay in your ear and do a great job at it too. The ultra slim profile of the headset makes it possible to dock it right into the case that also acts as a dock charger for the headset, the headset clips in very securely but may fall out if not places in correctly. I found that even with the ultra slim design of the headset, when docked into the case it is not 100% flush with the case so setting your iPhone down might scratch the headset. The HF2 by Etymotic are very popular in the audiophile community and so are other products by Etymotic. I am very impressed by the sound quality they produce, the highs are silky crisp and clear and that makes the HF2 the ideal earphones for classical and vocal music. There is a lot of sound detail and a wide sound stage that makes you feel like your in a dream listening to your music. the bass is not strong or overpowering but very clear and precise however that makes the HF2 not so suitable for Hip-Hop music, so I cannot recommend getting these if your a basshead and want strong heavy bass.
The HF2 also feature a mic and can control your music with the touch of a button, the sound quality of the mic is also very high and clear so you will sound great to who ever your speaking with. You can also use the mic for voice memos. The build quality is outstanding, the housing has a nice matte coating. They are also very light so they are very comfortable in your ear. The HF2 comes with many ear tips including foam tips that I think are the best and most comfortable, they provide ultra sound isolation. I found the HF2 to be the best sound isolating earphones.
In the box you get a nice handy carry pouch, ear tips and a filter changing tool with extra filters. The HF2 are available in a non headset version called the HF5 that is also costs less. The HF2 are available in 3 colors. Price is $179. Available for less on Amazon.
