iPad 2 Is Water Damage Sensorless

After iFixYouri got done with their iPad and iPad 2 glass stress tests, they found out the iPad 2 has zero water damage sensors like the ones found on the iPhone. After customers complaints (one even sued Apple), their water damage sensors were falsely tripped due to very humid weather conditions, Apple probably decided to avoid any more arguments with the iPad 2. There are other ways to detect water damage of course, one being green corrosion that will occur on metal after a while but it's nothing close to the instant water damage indicators. It's good to know that it won't be the end of the world when your iPad 2 accidentally drops into a pool.

The iPad 2's Glass Is Super Tough

Even though the iPad and the iPad 2 never used Gorilla Glass, they are still very strong. The iPad 2's glass is 27% thinner than the glass found on the first generation iPad. iFixYouri thought it would be nice to test out both the iPads glass to see which is stronger. It turns out the iPad 2's glass is much stronger and flexible than the iPad 1. Anyone else think that iPad 2 was extremely close to the edge of that table? It was used to take a different angle video of the test and the quality looks much better than the main camera that the guys over at iFixYouri used to shoot the video. Check out the video after the break and don't try this at home kids.

Speck Outs PixelSkin HD Wrap Case For iPad 2

Looks like Speck is going to hit a home run with their new PixelSkin HD Wrap Case for the iPad 2. The PixelSkin HD Wrap Case is the best of both worlds really, it mimics Apple's Smart Cover functionality with a proper back protection and it's all made out of a TPU material. Just like the PixelSkin HD case for the iPhone 4, a mixture of matte and glossy pixel texture dominates the front cover. You thought Speck used magnets? Nope. Instead, the PixelSkin HD Wrap Case's front cover will stay closed using micro-suction. Now that is just as interesting as magnets. Expect to see this soon in three colors for $49.95.

iPad 2 Guided Tours

Apple just opened up the Guided Tours page for the iPad 2 showcasing all its features in the guided tour videos. The iPad 2 looks extremely thin and sleek in these videos I should say. Check them all out and they should help you get thru these few days until you can actually get your hands on it yourself.

Will The Smart Cover Scratch Your iPad 2?

After Apple announced the new Smart Covers for the iPad, many people are now concerned that these beautiful covers will scratch their new iPad 2. The Smart Covers use magnets to latch onto the iPad's aluminum bezel and because the Smart Covers magnet latches are also made out of aluminum, I could see this being a concern. What many people don't know is that Apple thought it out before creating a product that will scratch your iPad 2 and added little gray rubber pads on the inside of each magnet latch to supposedly avoid any scratching. Will these be sufficient enough though? I guess you will have to find out the hard way or wait for reviews. And of course, we will have a review up as soon as possible!
