iPhone 5S Redesigned Home Button With Touch ID Fingerprint Sensor Confirmed

Hours before Apple is planned to announce the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, new leaks have surfaced today showing the user guide documentation for the iPhone 5S which consequently confirms the highly rumored redesigned home button with an embedded fingerprint sensor Apple is calling the Touch ID sensor. It's essentially a silver metal ring surrounding a physical home button which may or may not light up when using Siri or possibly function as a long-awaited notification LED. This new feature will allow users to set a biometric password using their fingerprint to gain quick access to their iPhone 5S with a simple touch or swipe over the Touch ID sensor ring. Another interesting detail when looking at the iPhone 5S's redesigned home button we can see that Apple's iconic square logo has disappeared entirely off the face of the button leaving only the new metal ring as a hopeful icon replacement.

We're also expecting Apple to offer the iPhone 5S in two additional new colors in addition to the silver and black slate like champagne gold and graphite gray. Of course we'll know how it works and much more very soon.

JBL Reveals Unique Spark, Pebbles Speakers

JBL has debuted two new radically designed speakers today at IFA 2013 in Berlin. JBL's $129 Spark is a swanky wireless, cone-shaped indoor speaker with a bright colorful translucent enclosure that features two high-performance 40mm audio drivers for room-filling stereo sound output as well as a "tuned" bass port which JBL suggests results in a "crisp, clean, high-end, sound with a warm, rich bass response in a versatile shape that you can take anywhere." With a compact size and a 7" diameter cone, the Spark's megaphone-inspired unique design also allows it to be hanged on a wall or placed on a table as you wirelessly stream your music using a Bluetooth connection. JBL's Spark includes a stainless steel hanging hook and a fabric cord with inline controls - we didn't expect to find that on a wireless speaker that's for sure. No cool lighting effects unfortunately.

On the other hand, JBL's affordably priced Pebbles is an actual desktop computer stereo speaker system consisting of two left and right speakers rather than a single portable speaker you can travel with. The Pebbles speaker system is USB powered and connected featuring a sharp looking rounded design with an upright standing form factor. They feature dual 50mm audio drivers that deliver "best-in-class natural sound, with clarity in the high end and deep, sonorous bass", a brushed radial metal-accented rotating volume control dial on the side, built-in cable management and an auxiliary 3.5mm audio input for a broader device connectivity.

JBL's Pebbles speaker system will be available in multiple color choices for $59. No official release date has been announced for either speakers, but we're sure they'll hit retail shelves later this month.

Up Your Game With The Nova Wireless External LED Flash For iPhone

iPhoneography is no laughing matter. And in fact this moniker has been the inspiration for a burst in camera accessories designed to enhance the way you shoot with your iPhone, namely tripod mounts, wireless shutter controllers, lenses and even light meter adapters. Now it's time to get on-board the "strobist" side of iPhoneography with a new app-enhanced Bluetooth accessory designed to work with the iPhone called Nova. Nova is an impossibly slim, wireless off-camera LED flash that enables you to get creative with how you light your subject using unrestricted angles and distances. Nova is so slim that you'll never have an excuse to leave it behind. Just slip it into your wallet as if it were another one of your credit cards, and bam you've got yourself proper lighting to get that superb shot using your iPhone.

The Nova flash uses 40 bright LEDs diffused by a white plastic diffusion panel resulting in soft, natural looking light on your subject. It's powered by an internal rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery that should give you about 150 flash cycles per full charge and a wireless Bluetooth range of up to 20ft. Using the free Nova iOS app is required at least until other camera apps will support Nova (Android support will soon follow). With the Nova app you'll also be able to control and adjust Nova's brightness intensity as well as how warm or cool you want your light output to be. Nova can be used as a hands-free wireless external flash, meaning that you can place it far away and shoot with your iPhone as it wirelessly triggers the LED flash in sync with the camera.

While we really like the Nova concept, it'll be a while until you can get your hands on the finished product which will be in early 2014. If you don't mind the wait, you can pre-order and secure your very own Nova wireless LED flash at a discounted price over at Kickstarter starting at $49.
