Second Next-Gen iPod Touch Part Surfaces

As September draws closer and closer, it's that time of the year again when all the new iPod rumors start flying. Only a little while back, pictures of what claimed to be the LCD front panel of the next generation iPod touch appeared online, and now a second has been found by MICGadget. This alleged part has a label 'Apple (c) 2010' written on it, and is identical to the first one. Both have a small hole in the top centre, for what is widely rumored to be a FaceTime capable front facing camera. MICGadget claims that this was obtained through an unidentified Apple parts supplier, and is on sale for $95. Whether or not this a genuine Apple part, we'll have to wait until next month to find out.

Apple to Fix Mobile Safari Bug

Apple has just told CNET that they have fixed the bug in mobile safari which allowed the jailbreakme.comjailbreak by the iPhone Dev Team. The bug that allowed the jailbreak was a security vulnerability in the way it loads PDF files from the Web. An Apple spokesperson said that “We’re aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update,” but there was no word on when it was going to be released.

Whenever this update gets pushed out to the world, the jailbreakme.com jailbreak will not work and the iPhone Dev Team will have to work out another way to make Steve Jobs very angry.

App Store Hacked!

2 iPhone developers have uncovered a massive security flaw in the App Store. The rating of their apps dramatically dropped, so Patrick Thomson and Alex Brie looked into it and realized someone had been hacking into iTunes accounts to buy apps developed by someone called Thuat Nguyen. And so by doing this, the hacker was able to rank 41 of his apps in the top 50 of the Books category.

Below is a picture of the extent of the problem. And the question remains, how has this developer managed to hack enough iTunes accounts to buy the number of apps required for each to dominate the paid books category on iTunes?

Of course, by the time you read this, I’m sure Apple will removed these apps, and Apple will of probably give the money back to people who were hacked. So until this is officially fixed, the best option would be to change your iTunes password.

This is probably the first instance of the App Store being hacked. Unfortunately, this might not be the last we see of it.
