WD's Refreshed My Passport Portable Drive Series Get A Unibody Treatment

Western Digital, also known as WD, has revamped its My Passport and My Passport Studio external portable hard drives for Mac users to boast an ever sleeker, new sturdy all-metal slim enclosures. It's obvious WD is trying to target tech savvy students who are in love with Apple's aluminum fantasy world of quality products with its raw silver on black aluminum designed My Passport drive. The My Passport for Mac is available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB storage capacities starting at $99, and is compatible with Apple Time Machine and includes WD Security for password protecting and hardware encryption.

The My Passport Studio on the other hand is targeted towards professionals needing faster transfer speeds, and for that the My Passport Studio has dual FireWire 800 ports which are the only thing setting the two drives apart, and of course the price. The My Passport Studio starts its price at $129. Both drives sport a USB port and are also USB powered. Sorry, no Thunderbolt capabilities quite yet. You may want to hold out for a bit longer for thunder speeds.

Razer Reveals Blade, World's Slimmest Portable Gaming Laptop

Razer has teased us long enough with its plans to create their very own gaming laptop, and now it's a reality. Razer has announced that it's stepping into the gaming PC business with its very own Blade gaming laptop and dubbing it "the world's first true gaming laptop". The Blade's enclosure is fully made out of lightweight, anodized black aluminum for that ultra stealthy gamer look, and is thinner than the MacBook Pro at just .88" thick which makes it the thinnest most powerful gaming laptop in the world.

Even while being thinner than a MacBook Pro, the Razer Blade still manages to pack some heat under the hood though with some powerful specs including a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with 2GB of video RAM. All of this is packed into such a slim form factor boasting a 17-inch LED backlit display at 1920x1080. These are some impressive specs for such a laptop.

The Razer Blade's other notable features include backlit keys, the Switchblade UI with customizable tactile keys with matching graphic overlays that adapt to different games you're playing and a multi-purpose LCD panel that is touch-based and displays in-game information and can double as a multi-touch trackpad. Razer's ultra portable Blade gaming laptop will be available later this year for a staggering $2,799.

First Purported iPhone 5 Slider Case By Ego

And we're off to the races! Reputable case companies are already producing and investing R&D time in creating cases for the unreleased iPhone 5 based on early rumors and leaks. Ego has put up the above image of what looks to be their Slide Case designed for the iPhone 5. It's very hard to tell if the case itself it just a render or an actual prototype ready to incase the most anticipated smartphone since the iPhone 4. The contours and wide form factor do match the purported iPhone 5 specs. Whatever it may be, stunning is a word that should be used. Ego hasn't released any information as of yet.

Tech21 Impact Folio, The Most Protective iPad 2 Slim Folio Around?

You might recall Tech21 from their impressive shock absorbing iBand bumper, now called the Impact Band, first made for the iPhone 3G/S. Since then, Tech21 has went under the radar for unknown reasons, but now they're back in full swing with brand spanking new cases for the iPad 2 that utilize the D3O technology which has made the company famous for its extreme impact protection capabilities. The company's latest iPad 2 cases include the Impact Folio and Impact Folio Leather. The two are merely the same except for different materials used like Apple has done with its Smart Cover offerings.

Tech21's Impact Folio for the iPad 2 is a minimalistic, slim folio offering full protection with stand and typing functions and is available in 6 vibrant colors. Slimness and vibrant colors aren't the things that make this iPad 2 folio unique, it's the D3O material that is integrated into the Impact Folio that can absorb shock and impacts in case of a drop. If this is any indication to what we saw Tech21's iBand can do, I'm sold. Tech21 hasn't posted any prices or availability at this time.

iPhone 5 Silicone Cases Revealed

These silicone cases purported to be made for the upcoming iPhone 5 are now in full mass products across China. It's believed that when case manufacturers get strong enough leaked details of Apple's soon to be released products, they start to pump out cases to be one of the first to score big once the iPhone 5 is released. We've seen and even tried very similar silicone cases that were popping everywhere for the iPad 2 right before it was released, and those silicone cases turned out to be spot on.

These silicone cases suggest the iPhone 5 will have a larger form factor and similar tapered back design similar to the iPad 2. It will be interesting to see Apple bringing back the first generation aluminum design to the iPhone 5 to match up with the slimmed down, tapered theme shown with the iPad 2 and iPod Touch 4G. The chances of these iPhone 5 silicone cases being the real deal is very high at this point. Past rumors pointed towards a slimmer iPhone 5 with a larger screen. We'll just have to wait and see if more identical cases reveal themselves to strengthen these rumors.

Third Rail System iPhone 4 Slim Case Has A Detachable Battery

I've seen my fair share of iPhone 4 battery cases, and even reviewed quite a few. Third Rail is hitting the battery case market hard with their new iPhone 4 battery case dubbed to be the world's slimmest battery enabled case on the market. What sets this iPhone 4 case from others is its detachable battery that attaches to the back of the case when you need to do some charging. The whole point here is to have a battery case without the bulk of a regular battery case that has a built-in battery which bulks up the form factor of the case permanently. The Third Rail System is the whole package to get you started including the slim iPhone 4 case as well as a detachable 1250mAh battery that also doubles as a universal gadget backup charger using micro-USB and included cables.

Third Rail's $59.99 Smart Batteries can be stacked up, up to 4 times to increase the battery capacity you carry. The iPhone 4 case and one detachable battery will set you back $89.99, but at least you're going to be future proof since the Smart Batteries are compatible with future Third Rail cases. Like a future Third Rail iPhone 5 case. All this sounds really good to me, I'll take 4 please. You can grab yours right now.
